McLaren Vale in South Australia is renowned as a premium wine growing area of great beauty that consistently produces high quality, richly flavoured wines. Fruit for the Shingleback wines is sourced from The Davey Estate Vineyard, located in Whites Valley at the southern end of the acclaimed wine region. From its genesis in 1998, the Shingleback portfolio has grown into a collection of fine wines that showcase an uncompromised commitment to excellence.

The McLaren Vale region has a Mediterranean climate with wet winters, dry summers and plenty of glorious sunshine. The proximity to St Vincent Gulf, coincidentally named after the patron saint of winemakers, benefits fruit quality with warmer spring and autumn conditions and cooler summers.

From the sustainably managed Davey Estate vineyard, the goal is to produce high-quality, single vineyard wines. Modern viticultural practices that minimise work to the soil & encourage a balanced environment are critical in our winemaking ethos. The practice of managing canopies, hand-pruning, precise deficit irrigation & integrated pest management culminate in superior quality fruit and expressive wines.

Davey Estate Range

Shingleback has long produced exceptional estate-grown wine.
The Davey Estate range is aimed at bringing a sense of time and place to each unique vintage. Using a minimalist approach that respects the fruit, the resultant wines are truly expressive of their terroir and varietal.

Shingleback Range

The Shingleback wines are made in a style that expresses the essence of the McLaren Vale. These wines are lush, fruit-forward and food friendly, both appealing on release and worthy of cellaring.

The Gate Range

Big and Bold, these are seamless, age-worthy wines. The aim is to produce rich, complex wines that represent the best characteristics of McLaren Vale. The Gate is a "winemakers wine".

D Block Range

Named for the Davey Block of the Davey Estate vineyard, these wines showcase the best Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon that the region is capable of producing. True reserve wines, only made in exceptional vintages.

Unedited Range

Block E Shiraz, to the east of the historic 1860’s barn on the Davey Estate, has for years provided a valuable and unique component of the Shingleback reserve wines. Producing full bodied, textured, and richly flavoured Shiraz, from this superior block a small section is selected for subtle (“unedited”) crafting and maturation that pays homage to the fruit and the soil from which it comes.

NX GEN Range

NX GEN wines are for the next generation of wine drinkers. A range of vibrant, smooth and fruit driven wines, showcasing classic varietals and crafted for immediate enjoyment.
