Chapel Hill is named for the ironstone chapel built by McLaren Vale’s Methodist settlers in 1865. The chapel stood as the heart of the community for 100 years, before it was closed and began to fall into disrepair. In 1972, the chapel was given a new lease on life when it became the centrepiece and namesake of the Chapel Hill Winery.
